Springtime in New Orleans not only means warmer days but as the flowers bloom, the city launches into its exciting festival season and the music and food that goes along with it. As a B-Corporation and company founded in New Orleans, PosiGen welcomed the opportunity to be part of the festivities while bringing solar education and fun to locals and tourists alike. The PosiGen team's unique "Power Up" brand activation experience brought the power of solar directly to festival goers and even offered the opportunity to bring a little solar home with them.

The Power Up Experience

The PosiGen marketing team built a unique brand activation experience that many in New Orleans had never seen. The team built the "Power Up" activation to engage festival-goers in a way that almost everyone could relate to - battery charging. Between the excitement of food pics, selfies, and reels for "The Gram," everyone is looking for a space to charge up. The PosiGen team made this experience one that was fun and engaging and offered the opportunity to learn about solar and PosiGen.

Powered by the PosiGen branded solar trailer, the activation featured three custom-built phone charging stations, each with five multi-plug areas - allowing for 75 charges at a time! In addition to the charging stations, the trailer also powered the lead capture tool - the digital prize wheel vending machine. Attendees at the activation entered their information for a spin on the unique digital wheel for the chance to win sought-after festival prizes such as sunglasses, sunblock, fans, and the coveted portable solar phone charger.

Letting the Good Time Rolling

PosiGen brought the Power Up activation to festivals hosted by two local organizations dedicated to serving the city of New Orleans and beyond. The first of which was the annual Hogs for the Cause Festival. Hosted by the Hogs for the Cause organization, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing resources to the fight against pediatric cancer, the Hogs for the Cause Festival is a whole hog BBQ competition featuring additional food and live music. Attended by 30,000+ fans each year, the event raises millions of dollars to provide grants and assistance to over 1600 families. During the event, festival-goers sought out the PosiGen booth for a quick respite of shade, phone charging, and solar learning. Several activation attendees remarked that this was their first interaction with solar, and they did not know it could do so much.

We then took the activation experience to the next level at the French Quarter Festival by sponsoring the PosiGen Solar DJ Stage. With the French Quarter Festival, Inc. mission of uplifting and sustaining the local culture, economy, and those who create it, the PosiGen team was excited to bring the solar experience to the festival's first ever DJ showcase.

Throughout the 4-day festival, the PosiGen brand was front and center to approximately 900,000 attendees, with the activation and DJ stage greeting attendees at one of the festival's main entrances. Featuring the city's top mix masters like DJ Captain Charles, DJ Kelly Green, DJ Raj Smoove, and more, the branded stage became the festival's focal party spot. Multiple PosiGen team members also had the opportunity to engage with the crowd - introducing the DJs, leading and learning new dances, and, of course, talking about solar.

The Engagement

During each festival, the PosiGen team directed traffic to the brand activation with targeted, animated social ads and dedicated landing pages featuring a map of where to locate PosiGen to get a solar charge up and the PosiGen Solar Quiz. Digital targeting delivered the PosiGen "Power Up" message to over 300,000 social media users within a defined radius of each festival.

During both festivals more than 2,500 revelers in total visited the PosiGen Brand Activation to charge up and learn about solarImage_20240413_160401_708 - including local media personalities like Malik Mingo of WWL's Great Day Louisiana.

The excitement and energy continued online during the French Quarter Festival, with over 16,000 people reached via organic social media. Additional engagement included over 250 social interactions and more than two dozen shares by French Quarter Festival, DJs, and local television stations.

Going Forward

As the festival season heats up around the country, the PosiGen team is looking forward to expanding the solar-powered Power Up Brand Activation to additional markets. From providing much-needed phone charges to introducing attendees to the power of solar, participation in local, community-focused events is a cherished part of the PosiGen business model. As we reflect on the laughter, the music, and the shared moments of discovery during the Hogs for the Cause and French Quarter Festivals, we're reminded of the incredible potential for positive change when we come together.
