PosiGen Partners with Operation Fuel for Save Money Workshop in New London

New London homeowners, energy experts, and local service providers gathered in late-January at the New London Public Library for a free, public information workshop to learn how to reduce high energy bills. Organized by Operation Fuel and PosiGen, the event also included Access Agency, Thames Valley Center for Community Action, and the City of New London Community Development Office. Each of the two-dozen participants left excited to save money on their high energy bills.

Saturday’s inaugural event demonstrated the positive potential of community collaboration.Operation Fuel’s, 40 year history of working with Connecticut community agencies made it an ideal organization to host the workshop series. TVCCA was especially effective at reaching out to the New London community. The non-profit has been providing social services to the New London community for almost 50 years, and mailed event invitations to 398 homeowners.

The workshop aimed to simplify and provide access to programs like Home Energy Solution audits, solar energy upgrades, heating assistance programs, and housing rehabilitation loans. Participants engaged with service providers to schedule appointments and sign-up for programs. Building on the success in New London, Operation Fuel and PosiGen hope to host additional workshops in more communities across the state.

Tune in for news about additional savings workshops.
